Student Managed Fund

The UTSIS ManagedFunds Investment Programme provides comprehensive training and education to selected students in the various aspects of running a Managed Fund. The Fund will initially operate in a simulated environment which is carefully designed to replicate a live Managed Fund. UTSIS ManagedFunds ultimate objective is to establish an active managed fund. Independently audited records will be used to track and prove the performance of the Funds.

It is the Society’s hope that UTSIS graduates will gain a competitive advantage in the market place through this program. UTSIS will work closely with the academic community and industry leaders to promote the talents and achievements of its members. Current financial members are encouraged to apply to join.

Industry Seminars

Three industry seminars are organized each semester to provide students with an insight into the operations and lifestyle of particular facets of the finance industry. The composition of each event is specifically designed to both educate and network and the agenda for each event includes both a presentation from an industry professional and a Q&A session. Presentations include speakers from private equity, investment banking, funds management and related industries.

 Investment Workshops

The workshops consist of a series of short presentations by UTSIS ManagedFunds, members and guest speakers examining current market conditions, world events and new investment ideas; followed by a moderated Q&A session. The workshops provide an ideal oppertunity for members and guests to catch up with current market events.

Magazine

UTSIS publishes an annual Finance Bulletin that provides students with an outlet to utilize their academic knowledge in a professional context. The publication serves to foster the self learning process by encouraging students to independently research and compose articles on financial subjects that are of particular interest.

Movie Night

One of the more social activities of the Society, regular movie nights offer members a chance to relax and interact with like minded individuals in a casual environment.
